This African mixed media artwork used Mali´s Bogolan mudcloth as a striking base for a hand-carved wooden face mask by Senegalese sculptor Ibrahima Seydi. The red background is covered in a hand dyed cotton fabric made in Nigeria using the tie & dye technique, while the floral adornments in oil paint and the dots on the mask were inspired from the Ethiopian Suri tribe. A cocktail of savoir-faire and cultural richness from the African continent.
