This African mixed media artwork used Mali´s Bogolan mudcloth as a striking base for a hand-carved wooden face mask by Senegalese sculptor Ibrahima Seydi, painted with face adornments typical of the Ethiopian Suri tribes. The red background is covered in a hand dyed cotton fabric made in Nigeria using the tie & dye technique, while a piece of it is used to drape the body of the character, inspired from the Suri tribes´ dress code.
This artwork combined with the other artwork "The Suri Brother 1" make a beautiful composition.
